RoadHero aims to turn today’s passengers into safe and responsible drivers of the future. This early intervention and prevention tool is a fun and engaging smartphone/device app played by primary school-aged children whilst in a vehicle (eg car or bus).
Children are encouraged to ‘spot’ and record good and bad road use behaviour, both in their own vehicle (ie. behaviour of their parents, such as the use/non-use of seatbelts) and out of their window (ie. behaviour of other road users such as drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians). This ensures that children are engaged in safe road use long before they become drivers themselves, and it can exert a positive influence upon the driving of their parents. Moreover, safe cycling and pedestrian behaviours will be reinforced, further reducing their on-road risk.
